White Peony or Bai Mu Dan(Pai Mu Dan), comes from the mountains of Fuding in the Fujian province of southern China, known all
over the world for its high-quality white tea, and is the grand cru of White Peony tea. Smooth and mellow, White Peony is delicately
crafted at the peak of the Tai Mu Mountain from the top bud and 2-3 leaves.
Also known as Pai Mu Tan or Bai Mu Dan, White Peony is a sweet, mild Chinese tea made from unopened tea buds, as
well as the two newest leaves to sprout. The freshly harvested leaf is allowed to wither dry in the sun. The natural oxidation
that takes place during this withering gives White Peony beautiful, plush flavors. The nose is warm, floral and rich like fruit
blossoms. The liquor is golden and bright. Clean, succulent floral-fruit flavor, melon sweetness, a touch of gentle savoriness
and rounded mouthfeel. If you are beginning your exploration of white tea, or even just tea in general, our White Peony tea

Bai Mu Dan is the second finest White tea after Bai Hao Yin Zhen-Silver Needle. White Peony, incorporates one bud and two
tiny leaves, plucked in early spring, covered with tiny silver/white fuzz on one side and touting a deep sage green color on the
other side.
White Peony Tea is literally translated from the tea’s Chinese name, Bai Mu Dan. The tea’s form, one or two leaves with a
light color downy leaf-bud, was quite unique when it first appeared in the 1870’s. Peonies are flowers of the wealthy in China —
maybe that’s why the name is borrowed to label the tea. Like Silver Needle White tea, White Peony white tea was initially produced
in the northeastern part of Fujian Province, in the Zhenghe and Fuding counties for the export market of the Southeast Asia. Today,
other regions, including some outside of China, are trying to imitate the production while the place of origin still reign for the best
quality and tastes.
